Principal Hardware Technician

Verana Networks is an exciting VC-funded start-up in the Boston area developing an innovative 5G networking solution. We are seeking a Principal Hardware Technician for Engineering R&D support, Hardware lab maintenance, and Printed Circuit board testing of Telecommunications Digital and RF hardware.

 

The successful candidate will:

  • Assemble, test, and debug R&D prototype hardware
  • Use a schematic capture tool to design simple test boards and support in PCB layout
  • Perform DVT on digital and RF engineering prototype boards
  • Implement processes for Lab equipment upkeep, calibration, and inventory
  • Execute Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for rework and BOM component updates
  • Have Electrical Board Soldering Certification
  • Provide safety and ESD training to lab users and perform audits

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience as a digital or RF engineering technician
  • 2+ years of experience in Telecommunications Lab Management
  • In depth knowledge of test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, programmable power supplies, spectrum analyzers, multimeters, data loggers etc.
  • In depth knowledge of schematic capture and PCB layout tools. Experience with DxDesigner and Allegro is preferred
  • Highly skilled in rework involving soldering on fine pitch ICs
  • Proficiency in IDE/Debuggers and FLASH Boot ROM provisioning. Experience with CodeWarrior is preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel for DVT reports and inventory and calibration records
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (Tera Term and TCL). Coding experience in Python is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplined Hardware development team
  • Proven ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities effectively to meet deadlines
