Senior Hardware Engineer

Position Description:
Verana Networks is an exciting VC-funded start-up in the Boston area developing an innovative 5G networking solution. We are seeking a Principal Hardware Engineer to design, develop and PCB assemblies that utilize multi-core SoCs, mixed signal and communications ICs. The candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. High initiative, a strong sense of urgency, and self-discipline are important competencies for success in this role.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for conceptual board design, parts selection, schematic capture, guiding PCB CAD development, board bring up and DVT in the lab.
- Design will include complex Digital and Analog circuits with power devices.
- Take part in signal integrity analysis/simulation and perform environmental verification stress tests.
- Specify diagnostic software test strategy and work closely with embedded software engineers to develop comprehensive hardware test harnesses.
- Oversight of FPGA development and or FPGA coding.
- Release of boards to contract manufacturing and support of NPI.
- Contribute to overall hardware product requirements. Develop and maintain high level design documents, software interface specifications, BOMs, factory drawings from EDA tools etc.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience designing PCBAs for telecommunications applications. Wireless application experience preferred.
- Demonstrated success implementing multi-core SoC designs and taking through integration with embedded software.
- Expertise in successfully implementing high-speed digital circuits such as PCIe Gen 3.0/4.0, 10/25 GbE, and DDR4 2400 MHz.
- Experience must include the design of low-noise, high-efficiency on-board power regulation circuits.
- Experience with EMC design techniques and solving issues in compliance test.
- Firm understanding of current PCB stackup technologies to ensure successful PCB fabrication.
- Experience using DxDesigner schematic capture and BOM generation tools preferred.
- Proficient with lab equipment such as Logic Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Multimeters and DC Power Supplies.
- Experience in coding FPGAs is a plus.
- Must be a self-started and team player.
- Ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities effectively to meet deadlines.
